What does Psy do with what my patient tells it? Every chat is summarized into a check-in on your dashboard, and anything concerning is flagged for your attention. You can read full transcripts in the patient file. Patients know this, it’s in the consent they sign, and Psy doesn’t pretend otherwise. PsyBird is a window into the week between sessions, not a secret-keeper from you.
Does Psy give clinical advice? No. Psy supports the plan you built: encouraging the work, listening, and reflecting, inside guardrails you set per patient (approach, tone, topics to handle gently, topics to avoid). It doesn’t diagnose, doesn’t prescribe, and refers anything acute to you and to crisis resources (988 in the US).
What does it cost? $15 per connected patient per month. Your invoice simply follows your roster. It’s free until your first real patient connects, demo patients are always free, and removing a patient stops their charge. Clinics get seat pricing: $10 per therapist plus $15 per patient ($12 beyond 50), on one consolidated invoice.
Does PsyBird pay for itself? If your payers cover Remote Therapeutic Monitoring, often yes: on Medicare, Medicare Advantage, and many BCBS and UHC plans, one engaged patient’s monthly RTM covers PsyBird for six. If they don’t (Cigna, Aetna, most Medicaid, cash-pay), PsyBird is a between-session engagement and outcomes tool at the same price, and the value is in fewer no-shows, fewer dropouts, and less admin. How RTM works with PsyBird has the license table and what to expect.
Is PsyBird HIPAA-compliant? PsyBird is built for HIPAA-covered practice: you sign a Business Associate Agreement with us as part of the Therapist Services Agreement, and patient data lives exclusively on HIPAA-eligible cloud services under our BAA with our cloud provider. The full picture is on the Security page.
Is my patients’ data used to train AI? No. Psy runs on AI hosted entirely inside our HIPAA-covered cloud environment, under a Business Associate Agreement. Conversations are processed only to generate Psy’s replies and are never used to train models, by us or by our cloud provider.
Can someone use PsyBird without a therapist? No. PsyBird is invitation-only: every patient account is created with a personal key from their own licensed clinician. It is practice software, not a consumer mental-health app.
What happens if a patient deletes their account? Their login is removed, and their chart stays with you: records retention is your professional obligation, and deleting an app login doesn’t destroy a clinical record. If they return, invite them back with a fresh key and they reconnect to the same chart.
What if I close my practice? You can export everything first (CSV and JSON). Your patients keep their logins, each receives a patient-safe archive of their own record, and they can connect to a new therapist with a new key. Your clinical records go with you, not to a successor.
Is PsyBird an emergency service? No. Psy points anyone in crisis to 988 (call or text) and to emergency services, and this is stated in the patient consent. PsyBird supplements care between sessions; it is not crisis coverage.
What devices does it work on? iPhone, Android, and any modern browser. Patients mostly live in the phone apps; the full practice dashboard works everywhere.
